#012: get a pretty website →
Back in the day (circa 2003) I used to be pretty HTML-savvy. At least, for a 13-year-old girl living in rural Saskatchewan. I made tons of hand-coded HTML websites to exhibit my “dolls” (like I said, I was 13. What do you expect). But as I grew out of “dolling” I grew out of making websites. Now my coding is rather limited to putting breaks in my WordPress posts that...

#011: songwriting
I’m a writer and I’m a musician, but somehow the two have never really mixed. Mainly because every song I’ve ever written is trite and - basically - bullshit. So this goal is to write a decent song. I think I may have already accomplished this, but until I play it for a unbiased person, I’ll never know. And of course, that terrifies me.

#009: take a year off
This is an idea I’ve been toying with for a while. As much as I would love to get into journalism right away, something inside me feels like I’m missing out on something; that I need to take a year off to “find myself” or something of the sort.

make a bigger impact:

- tell a woman you love to get a mammogram and to do self-exams
- volunteer at cancer clinics (doesn’t even need to be one for breast cancer).

#007: read
I’m in journalism school and I am news editor for my school’s paper, Intercamp, so naturally, I write a lot.
But I don’t read. I mean, I proofread and I read articles and handouts and class notes, but I don’t read for fun anymore. So I want to read a fun/relevant book a month. This is hardly ambitious, but life does get in the way sometimes (for example, it took me about...

#006: podcast
Today is the first day of Online Journalism, and not to toot my own horn, but I feel pretty ahead of the class. Our teacher is getting us into Twitter and GoogleDocs. Been there, done that.
So I want to take my knowledge and continue with my podcast, J-school in 3 minutes. I’ve already done one episode, but I want to continue since there are a lot of people who are online-shy. I want to do...

#001: Steeps & a formal introduction
listening to: Moondance // Van Morrison
In case you missed the “fine print” at the bottom of the page, I’m using my Tumblr for life goals etc. It’s a way of keeping away from New Year’s Resolutions, because I think people should be making goals all the time, adjusting and creating as time continues. In my eyes, the reason so many resolutions barely make it past...
